Ebay Case In 1995, Ebay Essay

Once this occurs, is when the firm will be able to reach out to a bigger audience and increase the number of people who are purchasing products from them. (Ahmed, 2009, pp. 142 -- 149) A second strategy that EBay could utilize is to have customizable products that will reach out to specific demographics of the population. The way that this could occur, is the company could install programs that will allow users to translate the site into different languages. Then, they could offer products that are most in demand to specific demographics of the population. If this kind of approach is utilized, it will help EBay to adapt quickly to changes in demand from various demographics of customers. (Ahmed, 2009, pp. 142 -- 149)

For example, between now and 2050, there will be large changes in population demographics. What is happening is minorities are more dominant inside America. By 2050, there are select groups (i.e. Hispanics) that will see a threefold increase during this time. To deal with these issues, EBay could add a Spanish translator their site. At the same time, they could offer specific products that Hispanic customers are most interested in. This would help the firm to create a platform that can be customized to specific demographics of the population. Furthermore, this will allow EBay to create platforms that will take into account cultural factors better. This is when they can reach out to new segments of customers and increase the amounts of products that they are offering. Over the course of time, this will make the firm more responsive to changes in demographics and addressing their basic needs.
Clearly, EBay needs to embrace a strategy that will focus on redesigning their web site, addressing cultural factors for larger demographics of customers and they need to prudently evaluate new mergers. If this kind of approach is taken, it will help to improve the image of the firm and allow them to more effectively compete inside the marketplace. This is when EBay will be able to adapt to the difficulties that they are facing by creating a customizable product that can reach out larger segments of the population. In many ways, one could argue that this is the heart of the challenges that are impacting EBay. The moment they are able to effectively deal with these issues is when they will become more responsive to changes in the marketplace.
