Abstract
The objective of this laboratory assignment was to assess the effectiveness of antiseptics in fighting bacteria. The sub-objective was to compare the antibacterial efficacy of four antiseptics: Family Guard, ECOS, Lysol H202 Bathroom, and Clorox Healthcare against the Escherichia Coli bacterial isolate. The experiment hypothesized that Clorox Healthcare was the most effective among the four antiseptics in the experiment. The experiment made use of the agar disk diffusion method. The laboratory results showed that generally, the four antiseptics were effective against the E. Coli bacterial isolate. In line with the hypothesis, Clorox Healthcare reported the highest antibacterial efficacy against the E. Coli as measured by the size of its inhibition zone. Larger inhibition sizes indicate that the antiseptic is able to prevent growth of more bacteria and is hence, more effective. Generally, the results showed that antiseptics have different levels of antibacterial efficacy. Consequently, some antiseptics are more potent than others. This is because of differences in formulations and chemical compositions that result in different potency levels. The general conclusion of the laboratory experiment is...

Path analysis procedures demonstrated that the participants' verbalization of the critical lures during the encoding process predicted their own levels of false recall of words in the lists. In short, encoding could be manipulated (deliberately even) to "enhance" and to produce false memories in a regular pattern (Goodwin, Meissner, & Ericsson, 2001, p. 806) Method In our experiment results, the hypothesis results were easily verifiable and follow-on clearly from earlier results
About the Photographs The next page shows both the refrigerated bread (top) and the bread stored at room temperature. The slices were taken out of the plastic bags to eliminate glare when photographed. The refrigerated slices were easy to separate and none showed evidence of mold. The room temperature slices could not be separated without breaking the bread; mold and moisture made the bread fall apart when it was picked up
This mixture was strained into the beaker where the detergent was mixed in and the mixture was allowed to sit before being poured into the five test tubes, with (roughly) equal amounts of the mixture in each tube. Four to six drops of contact lens cleaning solution was added to each test tube and gently stirred with a cotton swab. Alcohol was then slowly poured down the side of
Specific data was then tabulated to determine the increase of bacteria resistant to specific, common types of antibiotics, like penicillin and erythromycin. However, to determine the most effective method of coping with disease resistance, the experiment then reviewed the methods of a study in Finland that examined the effects of consciously cutting back on erythromycin prescriptions, which seemed to result in a precipitous drop in disease resistant-bacteria, versus previous studies
The Function and Importance of Surfactant: Lab ReportIntroductionThe purpose of this lab report is to demonstrate the function and importance of surfactants using household products. Surfactants play an important role in the respiratory system, whereby they coat the alveoli walls of the lungs (National Library of Medicine - NLM, 2017). According to the NLM, the ability of surfactants to coat the alveoli walls is rooted in their surface tension reducing
After gathering the supplies together, the salt, water, and paper (torn into smaller strips) were mixed in a blender until the consistency of the liquid was entirely homogenous. Once this consistency was reached, the liquid was poured into a beaker through a strainer in order to remove any solids remaining, and the liquid soap was then mixed in. This mixture then sat to rest for several minutes before being divided
