The death penalty is one of the most frequently-debated topics in American criminal justice, and it is important to understand both sides of the death penalty debate.

Attention getter- America is the only major industrialized democracy that still has the death penalty. population, but that crime should be punished to create a more just society. Supporters say it deters criminals from committing violent crimes
