¶ … candidate to enter the business world is the ability to identify the pros and cons of group decisions. This is a really helpful concept because a lot of emphasis in today's business world is placed on the need to work in groups -- but sometimes working with a group is not the best idea. Groups are good when it comes to brainstorming and drumming up new ideas in a collaborative effort at creativity, an important part of any work environment (Thompson, 2013). However, the real creative work comes into play on an individual level because it is here that the single mind has the ability to run with an idea, flesh it out and get it ready for consumption. So this is important knowledge to have about groups that this course helped me to discover. Another key concept is the importance of leadership in team dynamics; leaders have to keep teams oriented and on task because it is very easy to get off task. They also have to ensure that everyone's opinion and time are respected even though not every contribution will be equal (Northouse, 2016). As a student, I feel that I have been impacted...

Before I did not understand the essentials and fundamentals of team dynamics and conflict management and this limited my capacity as a team leader and kept me from really rising to the top in my business world. Now I have more tools in my tool belt with which I can address real world issues in the workplace and help my organization to achieve success.
This course impacted me as a person by getting me to see that just on a basic human level respect is a very important issue that I should take to heart. Before I always thought of myself as respectful to others but this course really showed how to put it into practice, which is really an entirely different thing. It requires patience and perseverance and an attitude of empathy and caring -- but at the same time one has to be firm in the sense that one is not allowing one's devotion to respect to override one's devotion to the team goal.
