Demographics
The main purpose of this assignment is to conduct a statistical analysis of community health project by making a comparison of the City of Phoenix to Houston City. In terms of demographics, Phoenix has a population of 1.615 million people whereas Houston has a population of 2.303 million people. Houston is one of the largest cities in Texas. The population of the city of Phoenix constitutes of 46.5% whites, 6.8% blacks, 39.9% Hispanic, and 3.2% Asian, 1.8% mixed and the remaining 1.9% comprising of others. On the other hand, for the population in Houston, 49.3% are White (including Hispanic or Latino), 25.3% are Black and 0.4% are Native American, 5.3% are Asian, and 16.5% are from other races. In terms of household income, the average income in the city of Houston is $47,793 declining from the preceding value of $48,064. On the other hand, the average income in Phoenix recently experienced a 7.5 percent growth to $54,062. In the 2016 fiscal year, the average age of the population in Phoenix was 33.4 years. The native citizens in the city had an average age of 29.5 years, and were younger compared to foreign citizens who had an average age of 41.8 years. In contrast, the average age of the population in Houston was 33 years. The native citizens in the city had an average age of 28.4 years, and were younger compared to foreign citizens who had an average age of 40.2 years. Notably, based on statistics of the previous years, the population of Phoenix is becoming younger whereas that of Houston is becoming older (Data USA, 2018).
