This failure of the agencies to effectively communicate with one another must be remedied to ensure that terrorist activities do not occur in the future.
Recommendations
It is imperative that businesses understand the vital role that communication plays in ensuring that an organization can meet all goals and objectives. In the case of the intelligence community in the aforementioned case study, there was a failure to communicate as it pertained to the appropriate information reaching the correct people. This failure lead to an attempted attack. It is recommended in the future that the intelligence agencies make a concerted effort to unify their information systems in a way that ensures that important information gets to the appropriate audience. Organizations must understand and agree to an overhaul of the current system. The new system will ensure that the information received is factual and relevant. In addition, intelligence agencies in the United States must communicate with agencies outside of the United States. If this form of communication would have been adapted prior to the Christmas day attack, it might not have occurred because other countries including Great Britain, were aware of the suspects association and would not allow him into the country. Overall organizations must make a concerted effort to adequately communicate within another so that such attacks do not take place again.
