The study is useful, because it examines the underlying affects of having various nurse to patient ratios at a facility or the lack of these regulations. As a result, the information that was collected and analyzed helps to highlight how hospitals can avoid the common challenges that often contribute to shortages (burnout). This information could be used in a hospital setting, by taking the various ratios that have been discussed and examining them for improving the quality of care. Where, administrators and staff could lower the ratio, to see the improvements in the underlying amounts of care in comparison with cost. At the same time, they can monitor the effect that it is having on the patient and the nurse. This will help a facility to be able to intelligently address the underlying shortage of nurses and maintaining high levels of quality. Once this takes place, is when a hospital can be able, to adapt to the increasing pressures that they are facing from: the shortages in nurses and other health care professionals. At which point, the facility can utilize tools that will have the flexibility to address this constant challenge in the future.
