The current economic crisis in the U.S. has opened up a tremendous opportunity for higher education institutions that offer high-quality and comprehensive online academic programs that lead to fully recognized undergraduate and post-graduate degrees. Today, large numbers of students from socioeconomic strata that had previously considered attending college a "given" have come to realize that doing so may be financially unrealistic, especially if they had expected to attend traditional on-site colleges rather than commuting from their homes. federal student loans, higher unemployment of parents, lower prospects of part-time employment for college students, and severely reduced home values have made a traditional college education unaffordable for many Americans.
Therefore, it is suggested that Acadia University launch a dedicated promotional campaign designed specifically to attract potential online students from the U.S. through the same means traditionally used in high school recruitment venues and university fairs. More specifically, Acadia should assemble and distribute a promotional package designed to highlight the breadth and quality of its online academic curricula in conjunction with the tremendous cost savings without sacrificing the quality of programming. The core of that initiative should be the functional equivalence of the degrees capable of being earned online at Acadia and the illustration of typical cost comparisons in that regard.
