This essay has to be based on the book "On Bullshit" by Harry G. Frankfurt. Explore the themes and ideas of the book. What is the difference between lying and bullshitting? Answer if the author correctly defines bullshit. Is lying worse than bullshit, or the other way around? Should we try to avoid bullshit or just minimalize it? Analyze. What the essay needs to be about is the critical thinking perspective as well as the philosophy perspective. You must discuss the main points of the book, answer what bullshit is and how and when and why is it used, along if you agree with the viewpoint of bullshit in the book.
I need a 3 page essay that follows the guidelines of my abstract (below). I would like to request the writer who wrote my abstract:
Order ID: 103398
Topic: Glass Menagerie
Writers
If Pheelyks is the writer of this essay, please notice that I changed the abstract you wrote a little bit, so please follow my abstract.
In this 3 page essay I need 2 sources cited within the paper. One book is already provided, however I need it cited within the essay. The book is written by Nicholas Pagan, titled: Rethinking Literary Biography: A Postmodern Approach to Tennessee Williams. I need one more source cited in the paper preferabily an article or book, however it can be a reliable internet source. And I need to know how to cite it on my works cited page in MLA. The source doesn't have to be about the glass menagerie, it can be about psychoanalysis.
Below is my abstract, so please use it as a guide for the essay.
Abstract
The Glass Menagerie is told entirely from the viewpoint of Tom, who is somewhat a representative of the author, Tennessee Williams. This play is largely a way for Tom (and Tennessee) to rationalize away the guilt he feels at being unable to help his sister. This thesis is important to me because it addresses the reasons behind the creation of the play. In addition, the issue of narration interested me, because the perspective of the play is essential to its interpretation. This makes the research helpful to all who wish to fully understand the play.
Because Tom is the narrator of the entire play, everything is seen as he relates it. Every instance could be used in the development of this paper. Especially important moments include the Blue Roses story and the breaking of the unicorn. Even though these experiences show Laura with Jim rather than Tom, they are the clearest evidences of Toms inability to protect his sister and help her lead a normal life. Toms monologue is also highly important, as it shows him justifying his actions and feeling guilty over them.
The critical approach used in this paper will be psychoanalysis. An understanding of Tennessee Williams relationship with his real-life sister Rose sheds some light on the origins of the plays story. The psychoanalysis of Toms character will reveal the guilt he feels towards his sister and how it is tied to his relationship with his mother.
Nicholas Pagans book Rethinking Literary Biography: A Postmodern Approach to Tennessee Williams is an interesting look at the authors life and how it intersects with his literary work. There are portions of the book that would help support my thesis, as well as some conclusions that Pagan draws that disagree. Both of these would be useful in clarifying and proving my point.

Write a description/mini-case study of an adolescent who is a "regular user" with increasing tendencies recently toward being an "abuser." Give this fictionalized adolescent a name and history. Describe his or her personality and environment so that you can demonstrate your understanding of risk and protective factors influencing his or her choices and situation. Be creative, but base your description on facts you have learned from the readings on family and adolescents - particularly the Begun article (I will email this article and another article) Make sure you look at web sites for additional important information you could incorporate into this fictional case study of an alcohol abusing adolescent. You should provide an in-depth description of the individual, but you do NOT need to discuss assessment or treatment issues. Include risk factors, i.e. parents drink, alcohol available at home, peer pressure, etc. Write 3 pages.

Choose a current infection control issue using a recent journal article as your prime source of information. The article's publication date must be either this year or last year. The topic must be approved by the Course Convenor (refer to dates in Study Chart). Write a brief summary of the paper, and critically analyse the infection control issues using the current infection control guidelines* and other relevant, recent, scientific literature. A critical analysis is defined in 'The Written Assignment' (Lewis, 2002, p7 - full citation is shown on the Resources webpage) in the following way: 'It therefore involves much more than understanding what you read and identifying and summarising key points. It also involves:
* analysing the information to discover the key themes and arguments in the literature;
* comparing and contrasting what various authors believe about a topic; and
* evaluating the research / thinking of the authors you have read.'

Assignment: Select a topic from the list provided by your instructor or one approved by your instructor.
Objectives:
1. To learn more about a specific historical topic.
2. To improve your research and writing skills.
3. To learn to think and write like a historian. Your paper should present a combination of historical fact and analysis. Report the facts about your topic while developing your own argument or opinion. Analyze the facts accordingly.
Requirements:
1. LENGTH: Your paper must be 8-10 typed pages (text only) (minimum of 2000 words). The paper must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 size font.
2. RESEARCH:
a.Your paper must have a work cited page with a minimum of SIX solid sources.
b. One source should be an original (primary) source; five should be secondary sources (books, journal articles, videos, etc.) (with only one coming from an on-line source approved by instructor).
c. DO NOT USE your textbook, general encyclopedias, or an on-line or CD encyclopedia (like Encarta) or Wikipedia as a cited source in your paper.
3. FORMAT:
a. Document the sources of the information you use in the MLA format.
b. Be sure to keep a duplicate copy of your paper in case the original is lost and for the presentation.
c. You must turn in two copies of the paper on the due date.
d. Please NO plastic folders.
e. No paper will be accepted that is not stapled before turning in.
f. Papers must be turned in at the beginning of class.
Suggestions for Writing a Research Paper:
1. Choosing a topic:
a. Start with the list provided by your instructor.
b. Use your textbook. Look up some of the topics using the index and read about them.
c. Dont overlook the illustrations and the excerpts from original (primary) documents in the brown sections, or pick a historical period and country that interests you. Even though you cannot use general reference works as specific sources in your paper, they are a good place to get started.
2. Doing Research:
a. Start with very general books such as a history of the Greece, Rome, the Industrial, Renaissance, Europe, England, Middle Ages, Christianity, etc.
b. Learn as much as you can about the country and century appropriate to your topic. Gradually narrow your research until finally you focus on specific events and people. If you use a book that is specifically about your topic, you should not have to read the whole book. You should already know enough about your subject to be able to look up specific facts, quotations, and events for more detailed information.
c. Use a variety of sources (books, articles, Internet, videos). You are not limited to the Trident Technical College Library (Learning Resource Center). With your student ID card you may check out sources at the College of Charleston, Citadel, and Charleston Southern University libraries. You should also check for sources at the Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester County public libraries (the Calhoun Street library has free parking for one hour).
3. Finding the Thesis:
a. You need a PURPOSE to guide your research and organize your paper. WHAT IS YOUR ARGUMENT? Begin with a research question like, What was it like to live in this time and country? What happened? Why and how did it happen this way? Who were the important people? How did they shape events? What made this person stand out in his/her time? Why was this event an important turning point in history?
b. As you find answers to these questions, select a significant theme relating to the events, people/person, place, and time of your topic and then put it into a statement that answers your research questions. This is your THESIS. For example, Francis Assisi saved the Catholic Church by inspiring people to live by the gospel, or Stick Fights and Boxing Spectacles in the Republic of Venice allowed individuals and groups to attain personal honor.
c. Deciding on a thesis is the most important step in your research. It will tell you what is relevant and help you select the information that you will use in your paper.
4. Writing the Paper:
a. THIS IS THE HARDEST PART. DO NOT PUT IT OFF TO THE LAST MINUTE. You will probably enjoy doing the research and the tendency is to keep researching right up to the last minute, thinking that you are making progress. The research is the easiest part.
b. SET YOURSELF A DEADLINE to stop researching and START WRITING at least a week before the paper is due. If you want me to look at a draft and give suggestions, you must give me the draft no later than a week before the paper due date.
c. I DO NOT WANT YOU TO WRITE A BIOGRAPHY, do not structure your paper around the life of your subject. Your opening paragraph should briefly introduce your subject (person, place, and time), and, most importantly, state the thesis or purpose statement of your paper. One way to structure your paper might be to compare and contrast the life of your subject with the society of his/her time. How was your subject typical or unusual? To do this effectively, you may have to briefly describe the society, events, important institutions (e.g. church, government, feudalism, warfare, cities) and leaders of the period. Rather than trying to tell the whole life of your individual, select formative influences, turning points, and greatest achievements or failures. Be sure to adequately EXPLAIN the causes and significance of important events in his/her life.
d. DO NOT ASSUME I know what you are writing about.
5. WRITE IN THE PAST TENSE.
a. To avoid confusion in which verb tense to use, I recommend writing in the past tense throughout your paper. Do not skip back and forth from present to past tense.
b. It is not necessary to mention your sources (historians and books) in the text of your paper. I do not want a paper about historians or histories, but about history.
6. CITATION OF SOURCES:
a. You MUST use citations to tell your reader the source of all facts and opinions that you included in your paper received from your research. As a rule of thumb, most of the paragraphs in the body of your paper (except the introduction and conclusion) would normally have at least one citation.
b. You must have a citation for all the information from your research material, EVEN IF IT IS NOT A DIRECT QUOTATION. Avoid overusing direct quotations. It is usually better to put the material in your own words along with a citation of its source.
c. BE SURE TO USE THE CORRECT MLA FORMAT for citations. For example, a reference to a fact on page 17 of a book by Brenda Oxford would look like this: (Oxford 17). For other citation formats refer to the MLA Handbook or you can find instructions on-line at the TTC website at the Library, then Resources, then MLA Documentation links. BE SURE to give COMPLETE information on ALL RESEARCH SOURCES on your WORK CITED PAGE.
7. Grading:
a. You will be marked point off for all errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and incorrect citations (whether in-text or bibliographic).
b. Remember to use MLA documentation style.
c. There will be 5 points deducted for every day late and weekends count as two days.
d. No paper will be allowed one week after papers are due.
8. WORD OF CAUTION ABOUT PLAGIARISM: According to Websters New World Dictionary, to plagiarize is to take the ideas, writings, etc. from another and pass them off as ones own (570). When you do this, you are committing a form of academic dishonesty and this is a type of stealing. Please read the STUDENT HANDBOOK, Academic Misconduct, Pages 74-75, Items 1 and 2 if you have any questions. Plagiarism will not be tolerated, and may result in a failing grade or suspension/expulsion from the College. I am always available to answer questions about sources and citations if need be, please do not hesitate to ask.
This is a Thesis paper based on the book: No-No Boy, by: John Okada. Discuss how the novel theorizes the "impossibility" of membership to identity formations such as American and Japanese. And in turn, what alternative kinds of membership are available or can we imagine? How do they change nation-based formations of identity and belonging? In other words, categories such as "American," "Asian American," "gay," "jew," are expected to define us politically, culturally, and socially. You must have a thesis statement and construct your thesis around your interpretation of the narrative.

There should be no more than 2 quotations in the paper. Paraphrasing is the preferred format. This is an Economics thesis so the paper should focus on the economics of legalizing marijuana. All reference materials (4) must be within the last seven years. A mininum of two quotations are required and please be sure to cite the page of the quote from the referenced material when composing paper.
I'll post the guidelines of the term paper as required by the professor:
"Paper Guidelines
A lot of you will be having questions about the paper. Here are some simple guidelines.
You should count on having the topic for each paper approved in advance by the instructor. Papers should be 5-10 pages in length, and should be very carefully footnoted and referenced. The paper can be on any topic covered this term in class.
Points of style are especially important. In particular anything you quote or paraphrase MUST be footnoted with the author, title, publisher and page number referred to in the source book; web sources can be cited by referencing the title of the web site, author and title of the article and its URL (http://address.etc.) This is VERY important. Do NOT forget to cite a reference for anything you paraphrase or quote. Remember to put quotes within quotation marks as well. THIS IS A PLAGIARISM ISSUE, SO PLEASE REMEMBER TO BE CAREFUL. I NEED TO KNOW THAT WHAT YOU'VE SUBMITTED IS YOUR WORK.
Footnotes should be numbered at the point of the paper where the citation occurs, and also at the bottom of the page or the end of the paper with The author's name, the title of the work, the publisher and page numbers cited.
For example: footnote number 1 listed at bottom.
If you need to consult a standard book of style, then do so. In general, titles of books should be in italics, titles of articles should be in quotes. You may use Internet sources. Be especially careful with information from advocacy groups with an ax to grind; what you get may or may not be accurate, and some groups are definitely better than others. This also goes for any source, of course. Use care and common sense.
As for topics, the best strategy tends to be to pick something you're interested in. Try not to just rant about your personal opinions, but also remember that you should have some opinions. I care less about what your opinion is than I care about why you believe it.

FOOTNOTES
Here's a little more on the format for footnotes. Number the text in the paper being referenced, with a number, for example 1. At the bottom of the page or at the end of the paper, list the full reference.
The title of a short article is put in quotes; the title of a book is italicized.
Any direct quotation should be in quotation marks, and footnoted. Any direct paraphrases or concepts, in general should also be footnoted. If I mention that Freud, for example, claimed Moses was an Egyptian,2 the footnote might look like below. A reference to the preceding footnote can use the word ibid. Here's a reference to Freud's comment that "It is not at all obvious why progress in spirituality and subordination of the senses should raise the self confidence of a person as well as of a nation."3 If you want to refer to James White's book 4 again the format below will do.
The exact format can vary as long as it's consistent. Any book of style will show you something similar, and that's acceptable. The point is to make sure you are completely covered, and so that I can tell exactly what part of your paper is being referenced.
A bibliography or works cited page is a bit different and isn't a substitute for footnotes. In a bibliography you list all the works you used (or consulted) in alphabetical order by the author's or editor's last name.
