Requirements:
1. Introduction to your practice framework:
In two to three paragraphs, discuss the primary focus of your personal practice framework. Include references to nursing theorists (Orem, Rogers, etc.) or other theories/theorists outside of nursing which you have incorporated into your framework (Family System Theory, Banduras Self-Efficacy Theory, etc). This section of the paper should stand alone i.e., provide of synopsis/abstract of your framework and should allow the reader to develop an understanding of the theoretical boundaries of your practice and your clinical focus.
2. Define and discuss your ideas regarding the four paradigms of nursing: environment, nursing, health, and client/recipient of care. Integrate your personal philosophy with those of your chosen theorist(s). For instance, you may have your own unique definition of environment, but choose to use Orems definition of nursing and recipient of care.
3. Define and describe other concepts/constructs that are integral to understanding your personal practice framework i.e. spirituality, balance, wellness, self-care, autonomy, etc. These may be your own creations or an integration of other theorists works. Your conceptualization of family must be included in this section.
4. Discuss how the components of your framework interrelate i.e., how does self-care influence ones health, how does the environment influence the recipient of care, how does the health of one family member influence the entire family system?
5. Discuss how your personal practice framework influences your role as a family nurse practitioner. Include a discussion of your understanding of the nurse practitioners role.
6. Describe the relationship between your practice framework and the nursing process. For instance, if you purport self-care and empowerment, will you measure or assess self-care during client encounters? How will your nursing diagnoses be stated? Will your interventions reflect self-care and client empowerment? What will evaluation criteria be? How will you evaluate health outcomes in the family unit?
7. Discuss the applicability or adaptability of your framework to clients of various ages in various health states within the family system.
8. Provide a brief summary of the paper.
9. The paper should be double-spaced using APA format and should be at least 5 pages but not exceed 10 pages. A reference list should be included.

How do I define and employ the four basic metaparadigms of nursing theory in my professional practice?
2.
What are the major concepts I employ that are unique to my professional practice?
3.
What philosophies and theories from the literature of nursing and other disciplines/domains are consistent with these concepts?

6.
How do I integrate role and change theory into my professional practice and how may these theories be applied to the organization in which I practice?
The paper is to be thoroughly researched and well documented, with relevant material from the nursing theorists presented incorporated into the paper. Use the current edition of the APA Manual throughout the paper. Sources should focus on references from nursing theory but may also include conceptual and theoretical material from other professional domains. The paper, excluding references or appendices, is to be limited to 6-10 pages. Writing should be succinct and well organized, as it is impossible for the facilitator to evaluate form and content separately.
References cannot be more than 4 years old.

Guidelines for APN Role Development Paper
This assignment requires individual analysis of a specific advanced nursing role and the context (milieu/setting- see examples) within which the role exists. The student is encouraged to be innovative while identifying an advanced practice role that has the potential to contribute to the health of a facility, community, college or university or patient population in Texas. The role can be one that is well established or the student believes needs to be established. However, students must stay within the realm of their selected degree program.
The body of the paper should consist of no more than 10 pages, not including the title page, abstract or reference list. It must be submitted using the ?Assignment Tool?. The paper will contribute 40% toward the total individual course grade. Students? grades will be based on meeting the criteria identified in the matrix below.
Writing Style
Ideas must be clearly written, organized using headings labeled as listed below to help the reader/ grader find all relevant information and supported by professional literature. If the information is not found, you will not meet the assignment criteria. Subheadings are acceptable but the major headings should be included. Information included in each section should relate to that topic and be written in a logical flow of paragraphs. Note that ten percent of the grade relates to writing style and appropriate use of APA guidelines.
*Refer to ?Rules of Professional Writing Including APA Guidelines? under the ?Information? link and the APA (6th ed.) manual for specific guidance.
Since this assignment is not an opinion paper, material for all sections must be supported by current primary sources of literature or professional, scholarly website information. For example, primary source information for certification requirements should come from the particular certification organization itself, usually their website. Do not use secondary sources referencing this information. For the APN roles regulated by the Texas BON, their website lists which credentialing agencies offer certifications that meet the requirements for that title and authorization to practice.
Role selection
Role topics and the context of the role, which are required to be aligned with their particular graduate nursing program, must be submitted by the due date and manner as listed on the Class Schedule. The faculty can then approve or provide further guidance for role selection if needed.
Include both the legal title allowed by TX BON (when applicable) with addition of a role descriptive title AND the setting in which the APN would be practicing.
? Must be specific (i.e. FNP- not NP or APN;
? Must address setting and any subspecialty, if applicable. Describe enough about the setting that faculty will be able to understand the potential role there. Examples include an ambulatory pediatric clinic in a private pediatric office, with a mostly private pay population, or a 200 bed acute care hospital with inpatient and full surgical services.
? FNP examples- FNP in primary rural care, FNP in primary care in urban community clinic, FNP with geriatric population in nursing homes, FNP specializing in wound care in a home health service, FNP specializing in infectious diseases in a specialists? outpatient setting, FNP in private pediatric urban group practice,
Required Paper Sections
* Remember to use discussion sources to help with developing section material.
1. Rationale for Role
? Explain reasons, based on professional sources, which support why the identified role is needed in the identified setting. This section may serve as an introduction, or you may have a separate introduction section.
2. Requirements and / or Options for Role in Texas
? Discuss in detail what is absolutely required and what is recommended for practice of this role using primary source information regarding education, experience, certifications, etc. Is certification required? If so, who certifies individuals for the chosen role? What is required to maintain certification? Does the Texas BON have to approve your application to practice in this role? If so, what is required to maintain this approval?
? Discuss any additional components which might be recommended in relation to setting or sub-specialization focus. Students may use other resources such as potential employer or current literature for information regarding education, experience, certification requirements or options for the role.. Note that employers, professional organizations, institutions and outside agencies such as accreditors may also have recommendations or recommended standards. Clearly distinguish between requirements and recommendations with appropriate credit given to the primary source. FNP students should consider prescriptive authority and privileges
3. Job Duties Consistent with Identified Scope of Practice
? Services and competencies provided, standards of practice for this role
? All services and competencies listed must be within the scope of practice as legally defined by the BON and / or and pertinent certification or professional organization(s). 4. Legal Implications
? Address relevant laws and legal implications.
? Discuss delegating authority and protocols if needed or appropriate such as found for the FNP or other BON regulated roles.
? Discuss any other regulatory agencies of which impact the role such as the Board of Medicine, Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Agency and others. Are there any other agencies which impact the selected role? What are they, and why should the nurse be aware of them?
? Identify the source(s) of scope of practice and briefly summarize what that scope is.
? Discuss impact of JCAHO or other credentialing agencies, if appropriate.
? Discuss the Rural Health Clinic Services Act, if appropriate and its implications to the role.
? Liability issues, to include any laws pertaining to confidentiality (such as HIPPA)
5. Key Collaborative Relationships
? Specify and discuss individuals and organizational relationships that are critical to or facilitate role success including peer, institutional, multidisciplinary and community partnerships. Who will you ?answer to?, be responsible to and for, need to ?get along with? and have the political support to succeed?
6. Potential Outcomes
? Address patient and organizational outcomes that reflect the direct and indirect impact and success of the role. For each measure, identify the potential data, source and method of data collection that could be used to demonstrate these results. An example for NL data and data collection processes would be to review human resource quarterly reports regarding staff turnover. FNP should use process or clinical outcomes measurements that are evidence based and feasible to collect.
? Must be clearly stated as outcomes, not services (i.e. decreased staff turnover, increased patient satisfaction rates, decreased hospital admission rates, productivity).
? Note that these outcome indicators can be used to ?sell? the establishment of a new role within a particular environment, justify the continuation of services or a position once it is established and demonstrate accountability for the provision of care and services.
7. Factors within the Environment that Support or Threaten the Role
? Identify revenue resources. Explain how your salary is supported (earned). How will services provided contribute to the bottom line with income and savings? How will the position or role be sustainable?
? Identify any competition of resources or challenges to sustain position such as other businesses, professionals and providers
? Are there any identifiable threats? How can these be mitigated?
? Detail the availability of current role/ positions. Is there a demand for the role or is there a need to create demand? Explore the number of openings versus need to establish, create or ?market? the new role or position.
8. Secondary Role Integration
? In addition to the discussion of your primary role, describe briefly (in a few sentences) how the secondary roles of advanced practice researcher, educator, leader and clinician would be manifest or integrated into your practice within this role.
9. Conclusion
? Provide a reasonable conclusion which is reflective of the previous sections and flows logically.

The paper should focus on patient outcomes related to the nursing staff (ie, nurse-to-patient ratio). The paper is APA format (no footnotes required). There should be a title page, introduction page, three main topics, conclusion, and the reference page. The title I came up with is How patient outcomes are affected by Nurse (RN) Staffing, but if you can come up with a better title I would appreciate it very much. There are five articles that I must use (approved by instructor), for this paper: (1) Nurse staffing, burnout, and health care-associated infection (American Journal of Infection control - Jeannie P. Cimiotti, et al), (2) Nurse Staffing and Inpatient Hospital Mortality-Jack Needleman, et al), (3) Nurse Staffing Effects on Patient Outcomes-Safety-Net and Non-safety Net Hospitals (Mary A. Blegen, et al), (4) The Effect of Hospital Nurse Staffing on Patient Health Outcomes: Evidence From California's Minimum Staffing Regulation (Andrew Cook, et al, Working Paper 16077 http://www.nber.org/papers/w16077), and (5) Hospital Nurse Staffing and Patient Mortality, Nurse Burnout, and Job Dissatisfaction- Linda H. Aiken, et al). The instructor wants the introduction page to be a "get my attention" page. I was thinking the first section should focus on negative aspects on care and patient outcomes due to insufficient nurse staffing, second section focus on positive aspects of care/outcomes with sufficient nurse staffing, third section to focus or make comparisons to California's Law on nurse to patient ratio, and the conclusion page. You may use other references that would support this topic. Thank you very much and please let me know if you should need any other information. The paper should be at least 15 pages not including the title page and reference pages.
Discussion Question 1:
Discuss how the changes toward women's roles may have influenced nursing knowledge development. What changes would you like to see in the future that you believe could make an impact on advancing theoretical thinking in nursing? Please be specific in identifying changes and influences. Provide one professional article from a nursing journal supporting overall viewpoints.
Discussion Question 2:
In what ways did the wave of the nursing shortage in the 1980's and in 2000 support or constrain theoretical thinking? Why? Are there ways to influence the cycle of shortage and theoretical thinking? Identify one nursing theorist that would support your discussion/views. Provide rationale for selection of theorist.

Research Paper. General Topic: Spirituality in Nursing (title can be changed. I have the required 8 scholarly Nursing articles that must be referenced (each one), and will fax them after placing my order. Feel free to add any other legitmate resources. Elements: Statement of the PROBLEM (after reading the articles I identified a problem of nurses although taught that healthcare should be delivered using a holistic approach, are very hesitant to minister to the spiritual needs of their patients. I thought maybe incorporating a individual spiritual assessment tool, and in-service or adding spiritual element to new grad orientees would be the approach to help nurses identify their spiritual status, and then incorporate education in-services on an ongoing basis to help nurses incorporate understanding of their own spiritual beliefs, incorporate general overview of various traditional beliefs/customs of well known "religions" and incorporate alternative definitions of spirituality. After statement of the Problem: Statement of the SOLUTION. Your proposed solutions or changes must be referenced in the body of the paper with current nursing research articles and based on research findings.CRITICAL COMPONENT NEXT: HOW ARE YOU GOING TO IMPLEMENT CHANGES STEP BY STEP SYSTEMATICALLY AND IN DETAIL. Next Element: Conclusion statement. Finally List of references. As I stated I will fax scholarly nursing journal articles approved by my instructor. Please include an abstract. You may use any data included in nursing articles statistics, graphs, etc. I just need it to be original. I am a christian, but realize the topic of spirituality must incorporate all forms of spirituality (all inclusive). I know that nurses are in the best position to assess and address the need for spiritual care, and should be equipped to be 100% there for each patient. Through experience, I know that many nurses are uncomfortable with the subject of spirituality, and avoid the subject all together. I haven't seen one visit from a pastoral care team in the 27 months I have been serving in the hospitals. I however have deep spiritual convictions, and am bold and confident in my approach. The inservice/orientation I propose will benefit overall patient care, and help to meet the holistic needs of each and every patient admitted to the hospital.
My instructor likes headings (Introduction, Statement of the Problem, etc.
Order:
0. Title page (more specific title please)
1.Introduction/Statement of the Problem (in your own words)
2.Statement of the Solution. Your proposed solutions or changes must be referenced in the body of the paper with curent nursing research articles and based on research findings (I will fax the articles)immediately after placing order. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO IMPLEMENT CHANGES STEP BY STEP SYSTEMATICALLY & IN DETAIL (include any financial considerations and how to fund, timing...when will in services be available, etc. Even a video series is a possibility. Community resources (pastors and leaders in the community can speak or their teaching can be included in video series). I think an introductional meeting should take place with a questioneer for each new grad/established RN, and systematic teaching beginning with definition of spirituality, religion, alternative expression of faith and spirituality
3. List of references
4. Conclusion statement (please make it powerful).
5. Abstract
Reguired:
Strict APA format, a minimum of 5 pages (does not include title or reference page, Grammar, punctuation, and pagination. PLEASE HAVE A WRITER FAMILIAR WITH APA, NURSING, AND HOPEFULLY A SPIRITUAL (PREFERRABLY CHRISTIAN) WRITER take on this task. I have done my own work up until now, and graduate on Feb. 6th, but have been diagnosed with cardiac illness, and stage IV stomach Cancer with metastasis, and I just cannot get going on this. I certainly understand a patient's need for spiritual care being in my current situation. Thank you for your assistance. please call me At (858)349-5489 with any questions or concerns. I need the paper soon, so I may begin the powerpoint, and various visuals to include in presentation.
Topic should be on polutions. Describe the issue including the nature of the problem, background contributors, and data available. at least 4 professional sources. Discuss possible community health nursing interventiions and use Orem's model.
Guidelines for Writing the Literature Review
Topic: Any general nursing/healthcare topic
The expectation for the literature review is that you will write on a topic of your choice. The topic needs to be defined well so that you can research it efficiently. Please use multiple primary sources (a minimum of 10) for your review. These sources should be from the last five years. The lit review should include an introduction, the review and a conclusion/summary.
1. Reference atleast 10 primary research articles that relate to your topic of interest. The majority of these articles must be research based and from refereed journals.
All sources should be within the last 5 years.
2. Read each article very carefully making comments and underlining the key points. You might want to make a table that discusses different characteristics of each article, such as the method, the main concepts or variables, the analysis used and the findings.
3. Begin to notice similarities and differences in the articles as a whole. Place those articles together that have commonalities.
4. Put all of the articles down, back away, and determine three or four different headings that you could write about in which the information in these articles would contribute. Begin to organize your thoughts around these headings.
5. Write the paper in APA format ? this means that you will have an introduction which describes the headings that will follow and why you chose them. Write about each subheading (three or four) and then end with a summary. Make sure that in your summary you state that after doing this review, there are gaps? and this is why MY study needs to be done. You need to end the review with a sale of your study.
6. The paper should be between five and seven pages and include:
a. Introduction
b. Subheadings: 1, 2, 3, (4)
c. Conclusion or Summary
d. References in APA format

Part 1: Please answer the following questions as you would conduct an interview with an experienced Advanced Practice Nurse regarding their transition from novice to expert practitioner: (1page, no additional sources may be used)
What was your experience like transitioning from novice APN (Advanced Practice Nurse) to expert practitioner?
What helped in your transition?
What did not help in your transition?
What advice do you have for you to assist new APNs in their transition?
Part 2: (2 pages using two-three sources)
Complete an assignment about the legal aspects of being an APN in regards to regulation of practice. Another legal aspect of being an APN has to do with when APNs make mistakes. The greater responsibility of being an APN brings greater opportunity, such as being able to prescribe medications, but it also brings greater liability when a mistake is made. APNs are human first, and as humans they make mistakes. A way to prevent making minor and major mistakes is to learn from others who have made a mistake. In many APN journals, you will find synopses of legal cases against APNs who have made a mistake. Reading these synopses is a way to learn what not to do.
For this discussion question, please find a synopsis of a legal case against an APN in your specialty who lost the case because of their mistake. Briefly, describe:
?-? Background information regarding the patient, the situation, the APNs action, and what the case is against the APN
?-? What happened to the APN as a result of this mistake (did they lose their license, did they have to pay damages, etc)
?-? What the APN could have done to prevent the mistake
Be sure to cite the resource / article you utilized for this discussion. Please use recent articles (<5years old).
Summarize the following chapters and peer reviewed article. Each chapter and peer review article should be approximately 100 words each.

1. Educators do have a responsibility to adhere to standards. We may have a tendency to protect and make allowances but this is not helping the learner. Feedback from the instructor is vital in order for the learner to change behavior but the student also needs to recognize their role and responsibility for learning. Some students are co-dependent and will not use their own initiative to change learning b/c they are used to teacher-centered learning. This is a paradigm shift and we need to help students see the value that learner-centered activities have on their learning. You make a good point about reliability and validity of the check off-list and the users. An additional concern is that during evaluation the teacher does not teach. A fair and objective evaluation is determined based the the performance of the student - it is not about personality likes and dislikes but the behavior that is exhibited to ensure safe quality outcomes. If the student is granted an opportunity to repeat the demonstration---who should conduct the evaluation and why?
2. Simulation is not new according to Schiavenato (2008). It?s been around since recorded time. Simulation is defined by him as a ?technique used to represent nursing process and actions in an educational context? ( Shiavenato, 2008). With clarification the suggestion by the dean to use video for teaching become an adjunct to the skills simulation. To better clarify I use the current teaching by the American Heart Association (American heart Association, 2014). Any of us who have renewed our BLS, ACLS or NRP know that video is the way to teach with the mega-code at the end.
When I was in school, we practiced injections on oranges. In our senior year we practiced on those of us who were willing to allow IV starts. It was realistic and we felt the ?pop? of the vein. I have tried the IV simulation arm, it?s not the same. So as instructors are we just fooling ourselves that simulation with a $70,000.00 mannequin will produce a nurse that can enter the job market and be proficient at patient care?
As educators, I believe we must be able to balance both simulation and classroom education. Classroom may include any type of multimedia presentation such as power point, slides, even satellite education if it is available.
It is not any single type of education that will produce a nurse, it is all types of teaching styles that will reach the students with all types of learning styles.

3. The skills laboratory is essential to students learning. It is a vital part of the student experience that prepares them for the real nursing world. Bradshaw and Lowenstein (2014) emphasize that acquisition of skills begins with didactic instruction and practice in the lab. The role of the instructor is a vital one. It should not be dismissed. Students may be able to practice a skill on their own with video but this should be done on an adjunct basis. The instructor instruction and guidance must come first.
Teaching skills involves move than simple transferring the "know how" but also understanding the rational behind every action and when it applies. The instructor plays a part by creating scenarios that apply to the real world. According to Bradshaw and Lowenstein (2014) the student can see the importance of the skill when there is application to patient care and special needs. Left on their own students may master the skill but not master the importance of real world application.
Students should not be left to themselves to follow video skills training. This cannot transfer the essence of nursing; compassionate caring. For this reason adequate clinical support must be provided in the clinical environment to facilitate compassionate behaviors (Straughair, 2012). "Consideration of these implications for practice is essential to ensure that nurses are able to respond to patients with humanity and kindness, and deliver high-quality, compassionate care to all" (Straughair, 2012 p.239).

4. According to Larocque and Luhanga (2013), ?educators have an academic, legal and professional responsibility to teach, supervise and evaluate a student?s clinical performance in order to ensure that students are competent and can practice safely?. Unfortunately, that sometimes means failing a student for various reasons.
Clinical skills are regarded as a key component of nursing education. Ensuring safe and competent practice is of utmost importance. Educators should follow institutional policies and evaluate students according to outlined objectives. To answer the question should students be allowed to re-test ? I would hope that policy would allow students to retest a skill station once after remediation. Providing constructive feedback, intervention, explanation, encouragement, allowing additional practice time or resources may be just enough to master the skill. I remember having ?performance anxiety? during nursing school. Being afraid to ?mess up? in front of my teachers or look ?stupid? in front of my friends. Even now, getting ACLS recertified every two years stirs up those same butterflies in my stomach. Failing a student is a difficult process for everyone involved. Every student deserves the opportunity to be successful and it is our job as educators to assist them whenever possible.

5. If the instruction to the student(s) has been the same, no variation, and all students have been afforded the same opportunities to demonstrate, remediate ect then sadly it is often times the instructors duty to give a failing grade (Billings, Halstead, 2012).
No one want to fail a student but as an educator in a setting where peoples lives are our responsibility I cannot in good conscience pass someone that I know isn't competent.
I would certainly uphold the policies of the academic institution that I was working for in this matter as would I " go to bat for the student" if I really felt that could do it but maybe had severe test anxiety but in a clinical setting they do great.
Individuals do have to be considered.
