25+ documents containing “2nd Grade”.
this is a report on observation of a 1st and 2nd grade ESL classroom. identify goals and reactions of students and their motivations plus the "philosophy" of the teacher.
An assessment for this activity that would be appropriate for the targeted student; consider and describe technologies and other instructional supports that would enhance the learning for this student.
The information below is regarding a 15 year boy who is in 10th grade, but his writing and reading levels are at a 2nd grade level because of his enability to speak english fluently. All of his assignments are modified consisting of (material being read aloud, assistance in writing, and math problems are written out in number format whether than a story format.
Problems behaviors do exist when he is feeling overwhelmed/stressed. The modification are made to this extent to alleviate the chances for problems behavior to occur.
He enjoys math, history and current events even though he struggle in these areas.
(a) Which accommodations and modifications were successful?
(b) If you taught this lesson again, would you do it the same/different? Explain.
(c) What other accommodations/modifications might the students regular education classroom teacher make?
(d) Discuss his strenghts and weaknesses.
Create a separate lesson plan for three different stages (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension) of reading acquisition using the same content for each stage. The content area is science for 2nd grade, it can be either weather or life cycles. I will send you the Arizona and Pa standards as well as the lesson plan template.
Part One: Graphic Organizer
a) Using the ISTE Web site (www.iste.org), compare and contrast the National Education Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS for Teachers) with any set of standards listed by the state of Maryland.
b) Create a graphic organizer to make these comparisons.
c) If your state does not include any requirements for teachers to know and understand before teaching, select the two standards that you feel best support what you see as imperative knowledge for a classroom teacher and explain your decisions in detail.
Part Two: Essay
a) In a 550 word essay, discuss the requirements of a specific grade-level or content specific standards as developed in the NETS(www.iste.org) for Students.
b) Describe technologies that are widely available to teachers in K-12 education to facilitate teaching, learning, and communications.
c) Which requirements for 2nd graders do you feel are right on target and will be easy to implement?
d) Evaluate how technology can be used in the typical K-12 classroom to enhance teaching and learning.
e) Which requirements for 2nd graders do you feel will be the most difficult to support from those recommended?
f) Although limited at the present in your overall grade-level knowledge, are there any specific skills you feel are missing from the 2nd grade level? Do not forget to check that it was not already introduced within an earlier grade level.
Select a colleague with whom you can collaborate in your role as a literacy coach.
2) Use the cycle of the literacy coaching model to coach the colleague in one area that will be identified together. This will be a particular literacy goal that is set collaboratively. Include a preconference, an instructional event, and a post conference. Provide a way to collect student data in order to analyze the effectiveness of the goal.
3) Write an essay (1,250-1,500 words) that describes this process and your reflections of the results. Include an introduction, a description and reflection of the process, and a conclusion.
I teach 2nd grade at an inner city school that only goes up to 6th grade. All of the students are African American. It is a Title 1 school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
A classroom teacher has asked for assistance with reading group evaluations. The teacher has four reading groups in a rotational cycle. Select the lesson topic and grade level of your choice. Create a rubric for a reading lesson that outlines indicators for students who are falling far below, approaching, meeting, and exceeding the standard in literacy. Include the components of the lesson on the rubric. This should be a practical data collection tool.
2) Include a summary (750-1,050 words) in which you explain how the teacher might be coached to address the needs of each group of students using the rubric. The rubric can be in any format.
The grade level should be 2nd grade and the literacy standards should be Arizona's.
Your activity:
1. Give 2 separate guided reading lesson(attached as document).
2. One to 1st grade students, One to 2nd grade students
3. A least a group of 4-8 students per lesson
TWO separate reflections. ONE PAGE each.
1. First reflection on 1st grade students, with a least some "early readers"
2. Second reflection on 2nd grade students, with a least some "early readers"
Answer the following PER page/experience
1. What you did? What would you change next time, if anything?
2. The children's responses to the lesson. Were they engaged? What evidence did you see that showed they were learning?
3. What did you learn?
HEALTH ADVOCACY LESSON GUIDELINES FOR 2ND GRADE
Using the concept of health literacy as it relates to high quality service learning, describe a health advocacy project for an elementary, middle school, or high school class. Do not include a lesson plan. Instead, describe in essay form a school or community health issue, correlate it to a content standard such as English Reading Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Science and specify student-centered/student-directed projects that can be suggested to students to address the health issue tied to the standard as an extension of the academic program. The projects should fall into one of the suggested categories listed below.
The paper should include a brief introductory paragraph describing why the health issue is a concern for students in the community. The body of the paper should describe how the teacher would encourage student participation, organize student teams, present possible health advocacy project suggestions to students, and ensure that the project was correlated to at least ONE content standard FROM EACH English Reading Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Science . The paper needs to connect to existing resources such as the CA. Healthy Kids Survey, the School Site Council or district health committees.
Example of an advocacy topic:
(This does not need to be added to paper. Just the advocacy lesson! This is just a summary of the Sample)
Health Issue:
Tobacco use among school-aged youth is prevalent in the community around the school campus but not on the school campus.
Content Area:
Social Science
Grade Level:
Middle School
Health Advocacy Project Suggestions:
Media Campaigns: informing students of school policies and state laws
Peer Education Programs: work with health classes to create school one act plays or skits
Parent Education Programs: work with parent groups to include information in the monthly principal's bulletin
Media Literacy Campaigns: have analyzing media messages around tobacco lunchtime contests
?? Keep in mind that successful school health education advocacy projects:
?? Emphasize health-promoting behaviors.
?? Reflect broad-based comprehensive skill-based learning.
?? Infuse health concepts into existing programs.
?? Rely on measurable student outcomes.
?? Encourage students to apply health concepts to their everyday living.
?? Reflect school district, state department of education, or national health education standards.
****Here?fs an Example of a good lesson****
I work as a middle school teacher helping students make the transition from elementary to middle school as welcoming as possible. The faculty and staff at the middle school visit the "feeder" schools, meet with parents, and are available to assist with any transition questions.
The middle school also offers a summer program to welcome incoming 6th grade students so they can get to know the 7th and 8th graders. This has been practiced for several years and twenty-five percent of the 6th graders attend the summer program.
Last year was my first year teaching and I am concerned that bullying is not sufficiently addressed during the summer welcoming program.
I teach a core subject, social science, and Ancient Civilizations. During the courses of study, we encounter several civilizations. Many students have commented on the meanness of some ancient rulers and I see this as an opportunity to relate social science to mean/bullying behavior observed among the students.
The terriorist information and the war in Iraq has also become the topic of many of my classroom discussions. The climate of today's world events offer a segue into the bullying behavior displayed in the middle school. The connection of this advocacy lesson would relate to social study standards 6.1, through 6.6 [TO EARN AN A THE STUDENT WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO SPECIFY THE EXACT STANDARD(S)]
I would begin the lesson with a class discussion about the definition of bullying. The class will work together in cooperative groups and identify a definition. Each group will design a chart illustrating their definition and then each group will present their chart to the class. After each group presents their definition, the class will take information from each group and come up with a class definition of bullying.
Awareness of bullying has now been determined in the classroom. The next activity would be to establish classroom rules against bullying. The students will create the rules against bullying in order to develop personal responsibility for conforming to the rules.
Positive and negative consequences will also be determined by the students when the rules are followed and when the rules are broken. I will not just let students create these rules and consequences on their own, but remind them of the purpose of the project and the school policies. This also falls into the social studies lesson, because the students study Hammurabi's Code.
My goal is to have students understand that bullying is not just physical, but also involves any hurtful action or imbalance of power, unjust use of power, satisfaction for the aggressor, and hurt felt by the target.
Once these activities have taken place within the classroom, a question could be posed to the students such as," How do you think the entire school would define bullying and what rules do you think the school would develop to prevent bullying?,". I want the discussion to kick-off a campaign to stop bullying campus-wide.
A student originated story could be conducted school wide to determine to what extent students encounter bullying. Data collected from the survey (THE STUDENT COULD HAVE OBTAINED DATA FROM THE CA. HEALTHY KIDS SURVEY HERE INSTEAD) to establish the need for an anti-bullying program at school.
A committee could be formed to work with the entire school to define bullying, establish policies to eliminate bullying, and identify rules and consequences for unacceptable behavior. (THIS IS ALREADY REQUIRED AT EACH SCHOOL IN THE U.S. THE STUDENT SHOULD HAVE JUST REFERENCED IT). Parents and community members would be involved regarding this concern. They could support the anti-bullying campaign, since the purpose of the advocacy lesson is to involve the community.
This committee which MUST involve students could use my class to institute activities throughout the year to demonstrate ways to deal with bullies, to report bullying behavior, to intervene and help targets when bullying is observed, and to support intervention for the bully and the family.
School assemblies, poster campaigns, slogans could all be connected to the school's mascot (a bull), named Matador. Student contests on developing this media could involve all students not just those in my social studies class.
The development of no tolerance for bullying behavior will begin in my classroom and expand campus and community-wide. The next welcoming meeting I attend for incoming 6th graders will involve working with the school staff, principal, and parents to educate them about these very real issues.
I understand that for this project to be succcessful, all concerned must be involved in the process from the beginning. The students will take responsibility for advocating for zero tolerance for bullying, but I must work to implement and oversee the project to ensure it takes place. Most importantly, it is my awareness of their impact upon others, taking social responsibility, and having ownership in a community project, that are the health-promoting actions. This will be a successful health literacy/advocacy project because it involves the students and addresses a health issue that is present in the school community.
1) Using the charts and other information from chapters 1 and10 in the textbook, write a 1,250-1,500 word paper explaining how you would organize a balanced literacy program for your classroom. Indicate your grade level in the paper. The grade level is 2nd grade. I use Story Town Literacy Program in my class.
2) Describe two or more instructional approaches you would include in the plan. In the description of each approach, elaborate on the following elements:
a) Purpose
b) Components
c) Theory base
d) Applications
e) Strengths
3) Referring to the chart on p. 20 in the textbook, explain which components of a balanced literacy program are satisfied by each approach you selected.
4) Include your personal beliefs about how students learn best. (Optional: Discuss issues relating to district requirements or materials available.)
5) Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is required. Include an introduction, body, conclusion, in-text citations, and a reference page.
6) First person may be used because the paper includes personal opinions and choices.
Create 4 weeks of tutoring sessions for a struggling reader. The tutorind sessions are five days a week between 30 - 40 minutes each day. Activites should not be repeated more than three times in the four week period. My student is in 2nd grade and reading on Pre-Primer 2 according to the QRI-5. She has trouble with beginning and final sounds, sight words, retelling, and short vowels. The tutoring sessions should focus on these four skills.
1. Give an active and engaging science lesson of your choice to a group of a least 3 2nd graders.
2. Lesson MUST be for science and used for 2nd graders
3. Must find the related CALIFORNIA standard from http://www.nextgenscience.org/search-standards-dci . Choose K-2 grade in the left side of the menu and the list on the right that has a number 2 in the code is for 2nd grade. Ex. PS2A

i want to write my admissions essay on being dyslexic but in comparison to my 3 cousins who are autistic. I was diagnosed with dyslexia in 2nd grade and kept back in 3rd. Although i was very intelligent my reading skills were poor and i was unable to keep up as i was always learning to read instead of reading to comprehend information. I was then given an Individual Education Plan (which we had to fight for and my parents had to get attorneys so the school would provide me with Orton Gillingham) which they then did provide me Orton Gillingham Services and i eventually learned to cope with my learning difference. I received and still do all my books on tape and learned to manage my disability. It was not until my 3 cousins were diagnosed with Autism that i learned what a real disability was and in fact i signed off on my IEP in 8th grade because i felt i wanted to be mainstreemed in high school and not stand out as being different. After dealing with my cousins i volunteered my services at a foundation for Austistic children and realized that although i have a slight disability it is nothing in comparison to what my 3 cousins have and what they have to deal with everyday. I want to maybe compare the two disabilities and say how thankful i am that i overcame or deal with my disability and how i have tried to help children with Austism who will be unable to ever completely recover from what they are suffereing from. My cousins Christian now 14, and twins Lucas and Robey who are 9 (and not as severe as christian) will always be different but they are special people for who they are and i want to point out how much i have enjoyed working with them and will continue to help them and other children afflicted with this diagnosis. I think if you can articulate an essay that sounds sympathetic yet triumphant for what i have seen and overcome and how i hope to help other learning disabled or autistic children that would be a good college essay. If you need more specific information please email me at [email protected]
Thank you
A total of 9 pages. With 4 different items - resource material will be provided:
The Dual Coding Model reading material is in the resource material. As added notes, according to Wikipedia the Dual-coding theory is a theory of cognition, first advanced by Allan Paivio of the University of Western Ontario. The theory postulates that both visual and verbal information are processed differently and along distinct channels with the human mind creating separate representations for information processed in each channel. Both visual and verbal codes for representing information are used to organize incoming information into knowledge that can be acted upon, stored and retried for subsequent use.
With that being said, following is what is needed:
1. Read the material provided. Write a 3 page summary about the model. Include all components of the model, pros and cons of the model, and the implications of classroom learning. Site hypothetical examples to illustrate the model. APA format. (4 pages). This paper must have an abstract, summary paper and reference.
2. Create a visual representation that illustrates the major components of the Dual Coding Model. . Must clearly and thoroughly identify the theoretical elements of this model - (sample of visual is provided in resource material - be creative!) (1 page) - can be a powerpoint slide.
3. Design a lesson plan that could be used in the classroom that demonstrates th emodel. The lesson plan format is in the resource material as template to use. Reflect on #9 and answer all items 1-9 . SOLs is good for the one item. Be sure to include best practices in the lesson plan. (4 pages)
4.Create a list of resources including articles, books, and web sites that provide additional information about this data. Create the list in APA format and include at least 10 resources on the list. Resources can include educational periodicals, web sites ending in .org, .edu or .gov. Do not use .com. Can use books and other materials.

Research on the internet at least 5 Collective Bargaining Agreements. The National Labor Relations Board has several you can view. Using the template on Chapter 11, draft a CBA that you think would suffice for both management and labor. You may write the CBA in your own words or paste and copy. However, if you do paste and copy, make sure you reference the material.

This research is for a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies Degree. This research is only a small potion of my whole paper. It should be about 10 pages in APA format. The exact question of my research paper is "Will the integration of technology in a second grade class improve student achievement in math? I teach in an urban school district where the students are of low income and many of the students don't have access to computers at home. This paper needs to include the definition of technology, powerpoint, smartboards, and laptop computers, the history of when technology started in education, the national picture which includes the budgets for technology and high stakes testing here in MA which is the MCAS test, conflicting views of using technology, the challenges and best practices which is a discussion of what has worked and not worked with technology in other school districts and finally a summary of the whole chapter. I will be faxing articles that I have found on this topic and other necessary information for the paper. The professor told us to use articles, the internet, and books. I also fax what the professor expects the chapter to look like in an outline form. I would like to use a money order.

Hi I need a 100 % NON PLAGARIZED PAPER. I paid 150 already to a company and when I sent it to turnit in at the school that is what it was 100% plagarized so I spent money for nothing. HEre is the thesis statement if you can use it great if not I need a strong thesis statemetn that tells what the paper will be about.
Thesis Statement- In todays society the debate of grade inflation has been a long standing issue, one of these debates are whether teachers should lower standards or for students to enhance performance. Since grade inflation is uniform between subject matter how does it affect us as future teachers or further more as students?
I need advantages & disadvantages too
I need examples in the paper
I need a conclusion of why it is not justified
